She done got it!

This morning 14 January, an envelope from the NZ Transport Agency address to J Andrews arrived in the letter box. But, allow me to first explain:

I guess that “some” people would label me as an MCP (male chauvinist pig), but I would blame any “attitude” I may have had on my upbringing in the 50’s and 60’s and the way my elders reacted to men/women hierarchy/relationships. I was indeed a product of my generation, but I believe that I have done my best to change in the recent past. It’s a bit like having been a vegetarian all your life and then suddenly you embark on a diet of beef, mutton and pork.

Not that I’m likening women to eating, or, indeed any kind of meat, you understand.

Irrespective of how “some” people might categorise my views, I must say that I’m a bit sour – not that I think I’m better than my wife Jeanette – not at all, as she surely excels in a whole bunch of stuff, which I cannot even begin to understand.

But here it is: She has received her official NZ driver’s licence, while I still only have a hand-written apology of a temporary slip of paper.

Licence
I noted that the accompanying cover letter from NZ Transport Agency (Waka Kotahi)  warns that you are required to carry your licence card when driving, and that a fine of $55 is payable if they catch you sans-licence. It further warns that for repeat offences, you could be ordered to appear in court and fined up to $1,000!

I will secretly admit that I am just a bit jealous. How come she looks so young in the photo, and my photo makes me look…. well, like… well, not so young?

Besides the young/age thing, heartiest congratulations, I am proud of you. In the words of the erstwhile English football coach about Gary Linegar: You done good, my girl, you done good.
