Hey! Look there ahead of us! I don’t want to speak out of turn, but I think that glimmer over there may perhaps be a light!
Not that it’s such a dark tunnel, really, but it certainly looks as if something will be happening up ahead in the near future.
Building-wise.
Saturday saw us meeting with our architect Barry to open and consider the tenders from prospective contractors to construct the proposed new “North Wing” of Chartwell. Not like the wing of a Concorde, rather more of a chicken wing, but done in tasty sauce…
Once the short list of queries has been sorted out, and the BC (building consent – some may call it ‘planning permission’) has been granted by the Kapiti Coast District Council, located in nearby Param (Paraparaumu), our builder John will be ready to start work by setting out the site and preparing the ground for the floor slab.
Although we have been waiting some weeks, in retrospect, the time has actually flown by.
(Above): I have superimposed the approximate floor plan on a photo, using the antiquated editor Paintshop Pro 4. But it gives an idea of what’s what, even though some lines may be squiff and the relative sizes of the rooms a bit under/over…
The numbers in the coloured rectangles are: 1(Yellow) Sitting lounge/TV nook, 2(Blue) Laundry, 3(Gold) En suite bathroom, 4(Green) Walk-in wardrobe/ dressing room, 5(Yellow) Outside undercover patio, and 6(Orange) Bedroom. The bedroom French doors and window are located approximately where the table and benches are currently located, giving the view of the garden and lawn as seen beyond.
All we can do now is to sit tight and to wait for the Council red tape…
