The week Monday 7th to Friday 11th. Construction Days 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18.
After the weekend, the concrete slab had hardened and cured sufficiently to permit us to walk quite comfortably throughout the extension. The dogs, too, were quite happy that the orange barricade came down and that they were permitted to do some sniffing. Which they promptly proceeded to do, every square inch…
Builder John and his team spent most of the day removing the slab foundation shutter-work and de-nailing the wood and loading the components on the vehicle for removal from site. They then set about measuring the position of the walls very accurately, as these are then supplied to the Prenail company who will manufacture the framing – the framing for all the walls pre-manufactured in their factory, to the precise sizes as supplied by our builder.
Later in the afternoon, Marcus arrived with his circular saw for cutting the two expansion joints in the floor. Marcus is the originator of the word “dust”!
Now, the long wait until the framing is delivered by the manufacturers, probably around 16 July.
